17–21 MAY 2021 | 5 DAYS

Delve deep into the Aboriginal and settler history of the central wheat belt on this five-day trip east of Perth. We’ll be based at the historic Federation-style homestead, The Prev, well known for its warm welcome and delicious food. The history of the pioneers is told in several museums you’ll be visiting: the Nungarin Heritage Machinery and Army Museum, which combines a tribute to the 10th Australian Light Horse Regiment with an impressive display of early settler agricultural equipment and machinery; the Merridan Railway and Military Museums, which house, respectively, the 1897 locomotive that hauled the Kalgoorlie Express and an extensive collection of military memorabilia from the last hundred years; and the Wyalkatchem CBH and Agricultural Museum, with its unparalleled collection of pioneer memorabilia and antique agricultural equipment. On the way back to Perth, you’ll get much further back in time to learn about the culture of the Nyoongar traditional owners of the land at the Bilya Koort Boodja Centre for Nyoongar Culture and Environmental Knowledge.
