Come to Australia’s northwest and witness the incredible natural phenomenon known as Staircase to the Moon, when the full moon rises over seaside mudflats to create a beautiful optical illusion of stairs reaching to the heavens. Based in Karratha, we’ll explore the natural beauty of the Pilbara coast and learn about its ancient human history with a guided Yaburrara rock art tour in the Murujuga National Park. We’ll learn about settler history in a day tour to Cossack, the northwest’s first pastoral, goldrush and pearling port. And bringing us right up to date, we’ll visit the North West Shelf Visitor Centre to find out about one of the world’s largest liquefied natural gas projects. For some R&R, we’ll enjoy the sunset Sam’s Island Cruise around the Dampier Archipelago hosted by the very knowledgeable skipper Brad, with the opportunity to swim or snorkel in some crystal-clear waters.
